School Library Closing

for the School Year

As the end of the school year is approaching, please have your child return, replace or pay for all school library books by the week of May 31 – June 4, 2010. Books will not be checked out of the library after this date. Any child with outstanding library books at the end of this school year will have limited library privileges for the start of the next school year.

Visiting the Media Center

When your child visits the library, they may take out two books. Your child may keep their library books for one week. It would be appreciated if you would discuss the following suggestions with your child. I think you will find that following these simple instructions will make your child's library experience very positive.

• Wash your hands before you begin to read your book.
• Use a backpack to take your books back and forth from school.
• Establish a "spot" for your library books at home. This will insure that you always know where they are.
• Make sure that you keep your library books away from small children and pets.
• Make sure to bring your library books back to school on time.

First Grade Book Choice Guidelines:

• 1st Book - "Everybody book"
• 2nd Book - Free choice, including chapter books and nonfiction

Second Grade Book Choice Guidelines:

• 1st Book - "I can read" book
• 2nd Book - Free choice
• Only 1 non-fiction book
