Schavey Road Elementary is part of the DeWitt Public School system, serving the needs of first and second grade students. Schavey Road has a tradition of excellence and a future filled with high expectations. Schavey Road teachers and staff are professional, highly educated and committed. Our staff consists of experienced educators who specialize in applying child development principles in the classroom. We provide the students a solid foundation for social growth, continued learning, and academic excellence. A partnership of students, parents, staff, and community members working together provide a caring and safe place where all students learn and grow.

Schavey Road is committed to offering every student an enriched curriculum beyond the basic skills set dictated by state standards. We provide our students the opportunity to learn and achieve to the best of their abilities in all subject areas. This is possible through our commitment to innovative practices, problem solving and higher level thinking skills.

The first and second grade learning outcomes are aligned with the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations, and teachers monitor student learning throughout the school year.

The Schavey Road staff takes great pride in and is dedicated to inspiring our students in the skills and problem-solving strategies that will prepare them for a lifetime of learning within an environment that encourages competence and confidence. This mission is accomplished through cooperative grouping, individualized teaching, thematic instruction, addressing specific student learning styles, collaborative planning, and sharing of ideas among teachers.
