Powerpoint DocumentState of the District - Superintendent's Report

March 2010

A Message from the Superintendent

Welcome to DeWitt Public Schools! DeWitt Public Schools is a district of approximately 3000 students just north of Lansing, Michigan's capital. Our six buildings serve students from preschool to twelfth grade and include:

The district also operates a community education and child care program to provide enrichment options for students and their families.

In partnership with parents, the faculty provides a first rate education with many of our students excelling in academics, athletics, music/band and theater! All district schools received an "A" on the State of Michigan Education YES! annual reporting indicators. DeWitt Public Schools' students demonstrate solid proficiency on state assessments and many achieve regional, state and national awards.

District success is a result of strong support from families and the community of DeWitt. The district receives the lowest foundation grant from the State of Michigan but is able to maximize these funds with efficiency and commitment to our students.

Our focus throughout the district is your child's learning; preparing them to be a well-rounded and successful adult of tomorrow is a challenge we take seriously! I expect you to find quality instruction, compassion and service, a rigorous state core curriculum, technology standards, innovative teaching strategies, real world connections, frequent assessment and communication to you about your student's progress.
